|Some Americans don’t think they’ll ever pay off their debt.|
Approximately 15% of individuals expect to be in debt for the rest of their lives. And that’s a problem.
It sounds almost impossible to believe, but it’s a high possibility that your steak dinner you charged last year, could keep you saddled in debt for the rest of your life. Couple that with your other credit card swipes and those dreaded deferred student loan balances, and the possibility seems like even more of a reality.
Although instant and immediate gratification has seemingly taken over this world we live in, the need to satisfy and eliminate debt is something put off and shoved to the far corners of most of our minds. And I get it, it’s uncomfortable, it’s shameful for most, and can be downright overwhelming. It’s much easier to ignore and avoid.
Jamilah N. McCluney started Black Wealth Financial after learning some very important money lessons the hard way. Being completely clueless as to how credit cards, mortgages, or 401ks worked, she found herself making horrible money moves and financial decisions, which would ultimately impact her financial future in a very real way.
The process of dealing with money is very personal to Jamilah and she often sees a similarity and feels a connection with her clients no matter where they are along their financial path. “You don’t know what you don’t know, and if no one has taught you, you’re out there just winging it with your money and quite possibly not doing a good job at it.” And that’s the perfect time that Jamilah likes to step in.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Howard University and believes that her background in behavioral science helps her understand how people think and feel in regards to their personal debt and finances.
“There’s no room for judgment when it comes to the money issues you have, because we’ve all been there at one point in time. And if truth is completely told, most of us are still there, and simply avoiding the problem.”
Jamilah’s goal is to eliminate her clients’ anxiety around money and to proactively and quickly get them out of debt, and on the path to living their best financial lives. She’s been dedicated to this pursuit for nearly a decade and sees herself more as a financial coach and strategist. Her action plans are very hands-on and she’s not afraid to speak the hard truths and realities when it comes to you and your money.
Originally from San Diego, CA, Jamilah has added to the overpopulation of Los Angeles, CA for the past 4 years. In her spare time she enjoys an intense game of Words With Friends, reading, trying to travel to places other than countries in South America, obsessing over cookies and peanut butter, and spending time with her family. Jamilah has been requested to speak in various public forums and has landed coverage in several print and broadcast outlets, including Fox News. She is currently professionally licensed in several states to provide life, health, and Securities 65 products and services.
